Trauma Outreach
Good Samaritan Hospital's Level 1 Trauma Center is committed to providing continuing education
to healthcare personnel, including physicians, nurses, and pre-hospital care providers.
Program goals are to:
- Increase the availability of trauma related continuing education opportunities
- Improve communication and foster collegial relationships
- Share information and ideas
- Refine patient transfer and follow-up procedures
- Fulfill our responsibility as a Level 1 Trauma Center to enhance trauma patient care and improve outcomes for injured patients
Trauma Grand Rounds
As part of our on going commitment to area-wide continuing
education, The Level 1 Trauma Department is presenting a
series of Grand Rounds. These rounds include a
presentation by a guest speaker and presentations of case
studies by attendees. Any health care provider with an
interest in Trauma/Critical Care is welcome to attend.
There is no fee for the event.

Good Samaritan Hospital is accredited by the Illinois State Medical Society to sponsor continuing medical education activity for physicians. Good Samaritan Hospital designates the educational activity for a maximum of 2.0 hours in Category 1 toward the AMA physician's recognition award. There are 2.4 credit hours CE credit available for the nurses in attendance. CE is also available for pre-hospital providers.
Paramedic Case Reviews
Review of individual department runs, including a lecture on a trauma topic by one of the trauma surgeons on staff. Presented to various departments annually.
Traveling Lecture Series
These topics (or others as requested) can be presented at other facilities by Good Samaritan Hospital trauma surgeons. Case study review may also be requested , as selected by the requesting facility or Good Samaritan Hospital.
