Center for Mental Health

Experts who understand. Programs that make a difference. When we ask people what's at the heart of quality mental health care, these two elements rise to the top of the list. Good Samaritan Hospital's response can be found in the caring people and effective programs provided at the Center for Mental Health, including:

Treatment teams, including psychiatrists, case managers, nurses, counselors, social workers, occupational therapist, activity therapists and chaplains, work collaboratively with the patient and family around the following elements:

  • High-quality treatment in the least-restrictive environment
  • Most effective and cost-efficient care
  • Referral to outpatient therapy, support groups, partial hospitalization or inpatient crisis stabilization following a psychiatric assessment
  • Case management which promotes continuity of care between levels of treatment

Our goal is to provide compassionate care through services structured to support the patient's return to the community. For more information, call the Center for Mental Health at 630.275.6000. For Perinatal Services call 630.275.4436 for more information.

Older Adult Services
Good Samaritan Hospital offers specialized services for older adults including the following:

  • Comprehensive Outpatient Assessment provides either a Geropsychiatric Evaluation or Geriatric Assessment in an outpatient setting. Following appropriate assessments, a team consisting of a psychiatrist, socials worker and nurse will conclude the appointment with a preliminary diagnosis and treatment recommendations.
  • Geropsychiatric Crisis Stabilization is an inpatient program that provides assessment and short-term crisis stabilization for patients who are unable to function in their environment. We help patients with loss, physical limitations, change, fears and emotional issues.
  • Psychiatric Partial Hospital Program offers a therapeutic, six-hour structured program three, five, or seven days a week for those patients who need more support than a traditional outpatient therapy. Individualized treatment plans may include education groups, individual therapy, marital/family therapy, process or symptom therapy, and activity therapy.
  • The Caregiver Support Group is a free weekly group that provides education and discussion specific to family and friends caring for an older adult.
  • Outpatient Therapy and support groups are available on an individual or family basis.
  • Referral Services are also available.
