Interventional Radiology Interventional Radiology involves the use of imaging technology and medical devices to diagnose and treat patients in a less invasive process, often in place of traditional surgery. This reduces the inpatient hospital stay and decreases the risk of infection, while improving patient care. Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital uses interventional radiology in several advanced, less-invasive procedures, including peripheral PTA, venous access, vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, uterine artery embolization and chemo embolization. As part of our commitment to providing the best quality care for our patients, the Department of Imaging will open two new state-of-the-art rotational 3-D imaging Interventional Radiology labs later this year.
