Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear medicine uses radioactive isotopes as a contrast material which are injected into the body and then imaged by a nuclear medicine camera. Nuclear medicine testing is often used to view organ function and structure and to examine soft tissues like the heart and brain, to analyze blood flow, or diagnose tumors.

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital has a strong commitment to our nuclear medicine program, utilizing three scanners, one, a new, state-of-the-art dual-head nuclear camera to provide nearly 10,000 tests in 2005.
