FAQ's

When is vascular Doppler used?
Vascular doppler is used to perform venous and arterial flow studies to identify any blockages, such as clots or plaque, in blood vessels. The test also often is used to assess a patient’s risk for stroke by measuring blood flow through the carotid arteries. Vascular doppler also can be used in preparation for heart bypass surgery, to measure flow in the vein being transplanted to ensure the surgery will be successful.

What can I expect?
Vascular doppler is usually fast and painless. You will be asked to put on a gown and lie on a table in the exam room. As with ultrasound exams on other areas of the body, a sonographer will apply a clear gel to the area being tested and glide a transducer over the body. The images produced are immediately available on the attached monitor.

When can I expect results?
Results of your exam typically are ready for your physician within 48 hours. Please allow 7 - 10 days for your physician to receive and review your test results. If you do not receive results after 14 days, please be sure to contact the physician who ordered the test.

How do I schedule a test?
