The Patient Experience at Advocate Good Shepherd Cardiac Care Center
At the Wayne and Patricia Kocourek Family Cardiac Care Center our goal is to provide our patients with the best possible heart care. We know your hospital experience depends on much more than the medical care you receive. That’s why we take great care to make sure your stay exceeds your expectations. Experience the difference in outstanding cardiac care at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.
Private Rooms Because the privacy and comfort of our patients and their family members is a priority, the Cardiac Care Center provides spacious separate rooms with private bath and shower facilities. These and other features aid in the healing process and set us apart from other cardiac programs.
Universal Beds Under the "universal bed" healthcare delivery concept, teams of nurses and other caregivers bring the ideal level of care needed to the postoperative patient, allowing the patient to remain in one room throughout the hospital stay. Studies show that when patients remain in the same bed with the same care environment throughout their hospital stay, the healing process is improved. For cardiac surgery patients, this can mean greater collaboration among caregivers leading to shorter patient stays. This patient-centered model of care is available at only a few hospitals nationwide.
eICU Audio/Video Patient Monitoring and Management System® The eICU offers patients and families added security and peace-of-mind. This state-of-the-art electronic surveillance system utilizes cameras and monitors to provide 24-hour patient surveillance and instant communication between physician intensivists and onsite caregivers.
Healing Gardens In keeping with our holistic philosophy of care, the Cardiac Care Center features three gardens with a variety of scents, colors and textures to stimulate the senses and enhance the healing process.
Mended Hearts Being diagnosed with heart disease can be scary. That's why Good Shepherd has partnered with Mended Hearts, a national organization offering hope and support to heart disease patients and their families. Mended Hearts volunteers draw on their own personal experience with heart disease to provide comfort and hope to new patients. Our Mended Hearts support group meets monthly.
