Nutrition

When you’re having chemotherapy or radiation, nutrition is important. The registered dietitians at Good Shepherd Hospital provide patients with the guidance they need to avoid excessive weight loss, dehydration, malnutrition or fatigue.

Before treatment begins, dietitians review each patient’s chart and develop a dietary plan designed to maintain health and combat side effects. If something changes during treatment, the dietitians are ready with alternatives tailored to each patient’s condition.

Whether patients require high-calorie, high-protein diets to combat weight loss, soft diets because they have difficulty swallowing, or simply find that some foods no longer taste good, Good Shepherd Hospital dietitians are ready to help.
