The Cancer Care Team at Good Shepherd Hospital

At the Center for Cancer Care, patients receive care from teams of specialists, including some of the Midwest's finest oncologists, hematologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, and other cancer specialists including gynecologists and urologists. These professionals bring together expertise from many disciplines of care and design comprehensive treatment plans to match each patient's needs.

    Good Shepherd Hospital Cancer Committee’s leadership is a key element of our excellent cancer program. The Cancer Committee is responsible each year for deciding goals and initiatives for the cancer program. The various members plan, initiate, implement, evaluate and improve all of the cancer—related activities at the hospital. The goals include providing the best possible care and support to our patients, offering the finest diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical resources to our primary care physicians, oncologists and surgeons and improving our community’s health through comprehensive cancer prevention and early detection programs.

    Tumor Conference
    Two tumor conferences are held each month; one is for is for breast cancer cases and the other is for all types of cancer. Newly diagnosed cases are discussed by the physicians and staff in attendance. The diagnostic work up, treatment options and follow up care are presented along with the appropriate research relating to that type of cancer.
