Y-Me Breast Cancer Support Group

The Good Shepherd Hospital chapter of Y-Me meets on the third Thursday of every month for those who need help through a rough spot in their lives. Y-Me-trained facilitators lead each meeting, offering support as well as education to breast cancer patients. Facilitators are patients themselves, and they understand the questions and concerns that arise with a breast cancer diagnosis.

Backed by hospital staff and physicians when they need additional resources, Y-Me facilitators help group members address and resolve the physical and emotional stresses cancer patients may face.

Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization™ (Y-ME) is a Chicago-based national nonprofit organization with the mission to ensure, through information, empowerment and peer support, that no one faces breast cancer alone.

At the center of the organization is the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Hotline, the only 24/7call center operated by trained peer counselors who are breast cancer survivors. Hotline calls are interpreted in 150 languages.
