Rehabilitation Therapy Services

The Rehabilitation Services Department at Good Shepherd Hospital provides comprehensive and caring rehabilitation services to individuals of all ages. The scope of our service includes physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and our patients can benefit from the clinical excellence of our rehabilitation professionals from each of these disciplines. Our experienced and compassionate therapists work closely with the patient, the physician, and the patient's family to create a comprehensive treatment plan. Each treatment protocol is determined only after thorough evaluation of each patient's physical condition and discussion of his/her individual goals. Every attempt is then made to tailor the eventual outcome of therapy to the patient's specific needs. Therapists also educate patients and/or caregivers about home treatment plans to maximize the benefits of therapy and improve chances for a sustained recovery of function.

Specializing in both orthopedic and neurological injuries, Good Shepherd's Rehabilitation Services Department provides both inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Our inpatient services provide the optimal access to the most appropriate level of care. Therapy can begin while the patient is still in the early stages of the recovery process, and therefore enhance opportunities for maximal recovery.

Patients can also benefit from the clinical excellence of Good Shepherd Hospital's outpatient rehabilitation professionals. Our outpatient therapy centers can be utilized following a patient's discharge from an acute care facility or by direct referral from a physician's office. Our outpatient facilities offer comprehensive adult and pediatric outpatient services to address the needs of patients requiring interdisciplinary care. W also offer multiple locations to ensure convenient access to our services. In addition to the outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy services offered at the hospital, we have adult physical and occupational therapy centers in Crystal Lake and at the Good Shepherd Health and Fitness Center in Barrington. Pediatric physical, occupational and speech therapies are offered at our Crystal Lake location and also in Lake Zurich at the Foglia YMCA. Respiratory Care
Respiratory Care Services at Good Shepherd Hospital include all phases of respiratory treatment and testing, such as pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas measurement and ventilator care management.

Center for Sleep Disorders
The Center for Sleep Disorders uses a unique multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and treat a wide range of sleep disorders. Specialists from diverse fields including behavioral medicine, pulmonary medicine, neurology and otolaryngology provide care under the supervision of a sleep specialist and in cooperation with each patient's physician.
