Information on Specific Outpatient Procedures

Endoscopy
All endoscopy outpatients should schedule their procedure with their doctor, who will schedule the procedure with the hospital. The doctor should instruct the patient of the time of the test or procedure.

Patients should come to the Outpatient Pavilion one (1) hour prior to their scheduled procedure unless instructed otherwise.

Registration can occur at the hospital the day of the procedure if they are not pre-registered.

All pre-procedure instructions should be provided by the doctors’ office.

If the patient is going to be sedated, they must have transportation to take them home. This transportation must be provided by someone who will take responsibility for them, not a taxi or public service.

Outpatient Lab and Testing
Outpatient lab testing is done at the Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital Outpatient Pavilion as well as the Good Shepherd Doctors Office Building pharmacy. No appointments are necessary. Semen analysis, 2 or 3 hour glucose tolerance and Dxylose testing are by appointment through Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital Central Scheduling.

Radiology
Patients scheduled for bone radiographs and chest x-rays are instructed to go to the Outpatient Pavilion. CT, nuclear medicine, Breast Care Center and ultrasound patients who are pre-registered can go through the main hospital to the specific departments.

Cardiac Testing
All cardiology patients report to the Outpatient Pavilion for testing. Any pre-procedure instructions will be given by the doctors’ office.

Pulmonary Function Testing
Pulmonary patients should report directly to the Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital Outpatient Pavilion for care.

Day Surgery Morning Admissions
On the day of surgery, patients should enter through the hospital’s main entrance and proceed to the Day Surgery Department.
