What are the visiting hours and guidelines?
The following are Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital's visiting hours for all areas. Only a nurse may make exceptions.
Medical/Surgical-11 a.m. - 8 p.m. If approved by a nurse, children may visit, but another adult must supervise them.
Surgical step-down (4-Center)-Two visitors are permitted at a time for a half-hour visits at noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Birth Center-General visiting hours are 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Grandparents and sibling of the newborn may visit from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m. Fathers may visit at any time.
Intensive care-Only members of the immediate family are permitted to visit. Visitors must be 12 years or older. Visiting is permitted at the discretion of the primary nurse. The unit is closed to all visitors between 6:30 - 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Pediatrics-Visiting hours are 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Parents may visit any time and one parent may stay overnight with the child. A day bed will be provided for the parent.
Cell phones-Patients and visitors are asked to refrain from using a cell phone while in the hospital. Visitors can use cell phones outside the building and pay telephones are located throughout the hospital.
Smoking-To protect and promote the health and wellness of our guests and associates, smoking is prohibited in all areas of the hospital.

What are the amenities and conveniences such as an ATM, cafeteria, gift shop and overnight stay?
Cafeteria-The hospital cafeteria is open from 6:30 - 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., 4:45 - 7 p.m. everyday. Vending machines are located in the cafeteria dining room.
Snack shops-The Pear Tree Café is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is located adjacent to the ground floor lobby. The Partridge Coffee Shop is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. and is located in the Outpatient Pavilion.
Subway- Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Online Flower Shop-Advocate Online Flower Shop can create and deliver unique, fresh or artificial, floral arrangements, as well as blooming and green plants to hospital patients and Advocate associates. Orders may be placed online 7 days a week, 24 hours a day but are reviewed and processed only during the retail shop's normal business hours. The retail shop, located at Lutheran General Hospital, is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Our shop is closed on Sundays and major holidays. ATM-An ATM machine is located on the ground floor, outside the Pear Tree Gift Shop.

Where do I park?
Visitors may park in Lot B on the ground level in front of the hospital. Please do not park in the lot outside the emergency room unless emergency services are required. All parking is free.

If I have questions or concerns about paying my hospital bill, what should I do?
If you would like to discuss your bill, you should call a hospital financial counselor at the phone number on your billing statement. The financial counselor will review payment options that may be available to you. Such options include, applying for Illinois Medicaid, KidCare or Family Care programs, Illinois Crime Victims Fund, interest-free extended payment plans and charity care consideration. To help make the process easier to understand, Advocate can provide you a financial counselor who speaks your language.
