The Good Shepherd Hospital chapter of Breast Cancer Network of Strength meets on the third Thursday of every month for those who need help through a rough spot in their lives. Breast Cancer Network of Strength trained facilitators lead each meeting, offering support as well as education to breast cancer patients. Facilitators are patients themselves, and they understand the questions and concerns that arise with a breast cancer diagnosis.
Backed by hospital staff and physicians when they need additional resources, Breast Cancer Network of Strength facilitators help group members address and resolve the physical and emotional stresses cancer patients may face.
Breast Cancer Network of StrengthTM (formerly Y-ME) is a Chicago-based national nonprofit organization with the mission to ensure, through information, empowerment and peer support, that no one faces breast cancer alone.
At the center of the organization is the National Breast Cancer Network of Strength Hotline, the only 24/7call center operated by trained peer counselors who are breast cancer survivors. Hotline calls are interpreted in 150 languages. |
