Working in coordination with referring physicians, families, and county and state officials, the Child and Family Protective Service program of Advocate Hope Children's Hospital is able to investigate and assess physical or sexual abuse. The interdisciplinary team provides:
- Inpatient and outpatient evaluations and services
- Coordination of care and consultation with the child's physician
- Continued care through the child's hospitalization and post-discharge
- Court testimony
- Counseling referrals for parents or family members
Our colposcopic capabilities (use of high-powered magnification equipment) allow for a thorough, non-invasive examination. A designated interview room, with a two-way mirror, allows for authorities to observe victim sensitive interviewing (VSI), a single comprehensive interview conducted by a trained child assessor. Documentation is provided, as well as representation in court on behalf of the child, if necessary.
Additional resources and assistance can be found by contacting your local Parental Stress Hotline or through Parents Anonymous.
