down syndrome clinic

Down Syndrome has an incidence level of 1 in 600 to 1 in 800 for newborns. Children with Down Syndrome may present with hypotonia developmental delay, congenital heart defect, gastrointestinal problems, feeding difficulty or eye and ear problems. The aim of the Advocate Hope Children's Hospital Down Syndrome clinic is to facilitate the care of the child with Down Syndrome and meet their multiple needs. Different pediatric specialists participate in the clinic, including a developmental pediatrician, geneticists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, nutritionist and social workers. Consultation with a cardiologist, gastroenterologist or neurologist is available if needed. Services are provided from newborns to 18 years.
