Working in coordination with referring physicians, families, and county and state officials, the Child and Family Protective Service program of Advocate Children's Hospital - Oak Lawn is able to investigate and assess physical or sexual abuse. The interdisciplinary team provides:
- Inpatient and outpatient evaluations and services
- Coordination of care and consultation with the child's physician
- Continued care through the child's hospitalization and post-discharge
- Court testimony
- Counseling referrals for parents or family members
Our colposcopic capabilities (use of high-powered magnification equipment) allow for a thorough, non-invasive examination. A designated interview room, with a two-way mirror, allows for authorities to observe victim sensitive interviewing (VSI), a single comprehensive interview conducted by a trained child assessor. Documentation is provided, as well as representation in court on behalf of the child, if necessary.
