The Resource Center

Located on-site at Advocate Hope Children's Hospital, The Resource Center is a library and health care information station, complete with Internet access via computer. The center provides information on preventive care and treatment of common problems. It also provides parents with the opportunity to conduct diagnosis-specific research or work with the center's staff to better understand a particular plan of treatment.

The Resource Center builds on the individual parent and patient education that is part of every child's experience at Hope Children's Hospital. It is an important tool in increasing parents' knowledge, calming fears and creating realistic expectations. It ultimately facilitates improved communication and understanding in the physician-patient-parent relationship.

The Resource Center also holds a video library for both entertainment and education. Parents may check-out videos to view in their child's room. There is also a family lending library which gives parents and children an opportunity to check out fiction and novels.
