The faculty members of the Department of Anesthesiology welcome you to our Department and are pleased that you have joined our residency program. Illinois Masonic is a teaching, research and tertiary care hospital serving Chicago's north side with 408 licensed beds. Our hospital has affiliation with the University of Illinois, and is currently ranked as one of the nation's "100 Top Hospitals" by Thomson Reuters for the second consecutive year.  In addition, U.S. News & World Report today ranked Advocate Illinois Masonic as one of the Best Hospitals in Chicago in the first-ever metro hospital rankings.

Our training program at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center offers many distinct advantages. We are strategically located in the north of Chicago, a multitude of cultural opportunities, and an ethnic population that is unparalleled in its diversity. Our faculty is committed to excellence in teaching so that our graduates are well prepared for a career in this rapidly advancing field.

Our program is geared to a curriculum with the specific knowledge, skills, and attitude that are needed for our residents to demonstrate competencies in scientific and practical foundations of anesthesiology. Our specific goals are to satisfy the requirements of the American Board of Anesthesiology and prepare physicians to be consultants and competent anesthesiologists.

In short, the major objective of our residency training program is to provide an environment in which physicians can develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to meet the future challenges of perioperative medicine. We are committed to ensuring that our graduating residents are trained in a manner that will allow them to be competitive for the most important academic and private practice positions.

Wishing you the best,

Kenneth D. Candido, M.D.

Department of Anesthesiology

Arjang Khorasani, M.D.
