Cardiac Catheterization and Interventions
Illinois Masonic's Heart and Vascular Institute's full service cardiac catheterization and intervention program leads Illinois as one of the top 50 Heart and Heart Surgery hospitals in the nation as reported in the U.S. News and World Reports. Services range from simple diagnostic cardiac catheterization with coronary angiography to complex interventional procedures including coronary angioplasty, coronary stenting drug-coated stents, peripheral artherectomy and balloon valvuloplasty.
In 2005, Illinois Masonic began a cutting edge peripheral vascular program performing procedures such as carotid and peripheral artery stenting. Our board certified peripheral interventional cardiologist now offers patients with high surgical risks a minimally invasive alternative to restoring their circulation.
Cardiovascular Surgery
Illinois Masonic was one of Chicago's first hospitals to perform open heart surgery. Surgeons at Illinois Masonic perform a wide variety of procedures including open heart, coronary artery bypass, mitral valve repair and replacement, MAZE, AVR without a stent, and aortic and aneurysm resections. Illinois Masonic Cardiovascular surgeons also perform off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery.
Doctors Who Are Teaching the Next Generation of Doctors
Physicians from Illinois Masonic's electrophysiology and cardiovascular fellowship programs teach physicians from around the world who have completed their residency.
Under the direction of senior researchers at Illinois Masonic and in conjunction with the University of Illinois, the Cardiovascular Fellowship Training Program fellows participate in exciting and influential new research, which aids patients in obtaining better cardiac outcomes.
