2013 Cancer Institute Annual Report

Creticos Cancer Center Endowment Beneficiary Information

Investment income from the Creticos Cancer Center Endowment principal is used to support patient care at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, with an emphasis on psychosocial care. Philanthropic funding enables us to offer a full complement of supportive services that meet the social and emotional needs of the whole person. A certified music therapist uses music to promote relaxation, calm and improved quality of life for patients during individualized sessions. Complimentary biofeedback and individualized and family counseling are available. Support from the endowment fund plays a crucial part in enabling the center to provide these vital services free of charge.

The heart of Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center’s Cancer Institute has always been our patients. We’re happy to once again share with you some of their amazing stories from this past year.

These are just a few of the hundreds of patients we were privileged to serve in 2013 through our Cancer Institute. We hope you will be as touched as we have been by the strength, bravery and commitment of these special people. We have been honored to serve them.

When we look back, we always like to look ahead. For our Cancer Institute, we look to the spring of 2015, when we’ll officially open the Center for Advanced Care on our medical center campus. This state-of-the-art center will include a brand new, innovative Angelo P. Creticos, MD, Cancer Center, which will expand the facility by 50 percent, connect the center directly with outpatient surgery and bring all our specialists together under one roof. Construction is well underway and we can’t wait to move in!

As for our clinical excellence, we continue to receive accreditation with commendation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. And the program is supported by Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, a Truven Health Analytics 100 Top Hospital for the past five consecutive years and part of Advocate Health Care, Illinois’ largest health care system.

We also take this opportunity to thank our many generous supporters, without whom we would be unable to bring our unique services to Chicago. Most of all, we thank our patients, whose lives and stories continue to inspire us to elevate the care we provide and stay at the leading edge of cancer care.
