ADVOCATE IILLINOIS MASONIC ASSOCIATES HONORED FOR GOING GREEN
Chicago, Ill. – Oct. 22, 2012 – Three Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center staff members received Environmental Stewardship Awards through Advocate Health Care’s third annual green recognition program.
The awards, which recognize associates going above and beyond in their commitment to being green, received more than 350 nominations. Advocate, the largest health system in Illinois, selected 21 winners in six categories.
At Advocate Illinois Masonic, David Haas was recognized in the Innovation category for installing temperature sensors in hospital corridors that program, monitor and control air temperature from a centralized location.
Anne Wardynski, RN, received a Commitment Award for donating unused blue wrap and operating room supplies to a local animal shelter. Thus far, she's redirected more than 500 lbs. of supplies that couldn’t be used for patients and would otherwise have to be discarded.
Rochelle Petefish, RN, received a Reduce-Reuse-Recycle Award for spearheading the hospital's patient care item recycling initiative. She regularly rounds throughout the hospital on her days off, checking soiled utility rooms and recycling bins and educating clinicians on patient care item recycling.
