Patricia Lee, MD - Chair of Emergency Medicine

Employed at Illinois Masonic Medical Center’s Emergency Department since 1993 as an attending physician, Dr. Lee became chair of Emergency Medicine in 2009. She is a clinical associate professor of Emergency Medicine in the University of Illinois Emergency Medicine Residency program. Dr. Lee is responsible for medical oversight of patients being treated in the Emergency Department. She is active in many state and national organizations and is a well-recognized speaker and author in emergency medicine.

Eddie Markul, MD - Medical Director of EMS, Chicago North EMS Region

Dr. Markul is the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) medical director for the Chicago North EMS Region. Since 2007, Dr. Markul has been an active member of Illinois Masonic Medical Center’s Emergency Department. Illinois Masonic Medical Center serves as the resource hospital for the Chicago North EMS Region and as the Regional Hospital Coordination Center (RHCC), a lead disaster hospital for the Illinois Region XI EMS System. As EMS medical director, Dr. Markul is responsible for the medical control and quality monitoring of ambulances operating in the northern Chicago area in addition to participating in medical policy formation for citywide EMS operations.

Richard Fantus, MD, FACS - Medical Director of the Trauma Service

Dr. Fantus is a board-certified surgeon with added qualifications in critical care medicine. He has led the Trauma Service at Illinois Masonic Medical Center since 1987 and is active on many regional- and state-level committees that impact the trauma system. Dr. Fantus also serves as a clinical professor of surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine’s Chicago campus.
