After being hospitalized for a disabling illness or injury, many patients need inpatient rehabilitation to recover and get back to their normal routines. Inpatient rehabilitation is appropriate for people whose illness or injury prevents them from performing everyday activities, such as dressing, eating or walking on their own.
At Illinois Masonic Medical Center, our physicians, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, rehabilitation nurses, neuropsychologists and social workers focus on helping patients regain independence and improve their ability to perform daily activities. A team of professionals ensures that patients receive three to four hours of therapy a day, comprehensive discharge planning, extensive education and supportive counseling. In addition, patients have access to around-the-clock nursing care, and our physiatrists visit patients on a daily basis to track their progress.
