I view myself as a surgeon who educates patients about their condition and informs them of both surgical and nonsurgical options so they may make the right decision for their health care. It is my role to guide them through their condition, beginning to end, calling upon colleagues to deliver optimal care that is multidisciplinary and comprehensive.

I try to take the time and listen to my patient’s problems and to give them the best advice possible regarding their conditions. I treat them as I would like to be treated and advocate nonsurgical and minimally invasive surgical techniques whenever possible with the goal of restoring their quality of life.

My foremost goal is the delivery of the most compassionate and considerate neurosurgical care possible. My analytical approach, emphasizing the history, symptoms, neurological and radiological findings, is grounded in three decades of clinical neurosurgery practice in diverse Chicago area environments, in addition to continued neuroscience studies and teaching.
