When the brain and the nerves that control the bladder don't communicate correctly, the bladder doesn’t function properly. Normally, the sacral nerves located near the bladder signal the brain when the bladder is becoming full. The brain then signals the bladder muscles to produce the urge to urinate. If you have urinary incontinence, these signals no longer work correctly. This results in urinary frequency or urgency, or an inability to empty the bladder completely.
Neuromodulation therapy is a proven treatment method that targets the sacral nerves to help restore bladder control when medication and other methods have not been successful.
