Sangeetha Nimmagadda, MD, a hematologist/oncologist joined Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and the Angelo P. Creticos, MD, Cancer Center in 2011. She is triple board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology.

Dr. Nimmagadda treats all adult cancers and hematologic malignancies but has a special interest in lung cancer and multiple myeloma. Her clinical interests include the early identification and treatment of symptomatic multiple myeloma and molecular profiling in lung cancer.

Prior to joining Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Dr. Nimmagadda was an assistant professor of Clinical Medicine in the Section of Hematology-Oncology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago.

Educational Background

At Pennsylvania State University in State College, Penn., Dr. Nimmagadda was accepted to the esteemed Accelerated Premedical-Medical BS/MD Program. She received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and went on to complete an internal medicine residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland and Case Western University College of Medicine in Cleveland and a hematology-oncology fellowship at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago.

Research and Publications

Dr. Nimmagadda has been published in journals including Bone Marrow Transplantation and Free Radical Biology and Medicine, and has presented research findings at several medical conferences.

While on faculty at the University of Illinois Medical Center, Dr. Nimmagadda was involved in writing a phase I/II clinical trial evaluating the efficacy and tolerability of a novel investigational drug in patients with refractory small-cell lung cancer and acute myeloid leukemia. Dr. Nimmagadda was also involved as a sub-investigator in the UIC Chapter of the Multicenter Phase III Acute Venous Thrombosis: Thrombus Removal with Adjunctive Catheter-Directed Thrombolysis “ATTRACT” trial.
