The Hispanocare Student Scholarship fund was established in November 1996, in order to help Latino-American college students complete their education, by providing unrestricted scholarships for whatever the student(s) needs, i.e., education, housing, books, food, clothing, etc. To date, Hispanocare has awarded in excess of $393,000 in scholarships to 153 deserving Latino students.
Eligibility Requirements
Students of Latino descent (having at least 1 parent of Latino origin) who have graduated from an accredited high school with a composite ACT score of 21.
Must have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 point scale or 4.0 or more on a 5.0 point scale, or have a minimum score of 250 for a GED.
Students must be citizens, nationals, or have lawful permanent residence in the United States and must reside in Illinois.
Students studies must be in the healthcare arena, i.e., medicine, nursing, osteopathic medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, podiatry, optometry, allied health, or schools offering graduate programs in public health or clinical psychology or any other healthcare field.
Application Deadline
Deadline for Scholarship application is October 11, 2013. The ability to plan ahead and submit a completed application by the deadline specified is crucial to be considered for any scholarship.
Applications must be received no later than October 11, 2013. However, early application is recommended. Funding is limited. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
