At Advocate Illinois Masonic Hyperbaric and Wound Care Resources, healing difficult wounds is what we do best. Not all wound care centers are created equally. Certain wounds and conditions will require hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy, which is adjunctive therapy to the patient’s overall treatment plan. HBO is a medical treatment where the patient breathes 100% oxygen in a pressurized environment. Oxygen delivered under pressure actually dissolves in the bloodstream and is carried to all parts of the body as well as to the damaged tissue in the plasma, therefore promoting the wound healing process.
Advocate Illinois Masonic Hyperbaric and Wound Care Resources is one of only a few wound treatment programs in the Chicago area with hyperbaric capabilities on-site. The program uses a team approach to help patients overcome today’s challenging wounds. This treatment approach is designed to complement the primary or referring physician’s care, not replace it. A physician has the option to call the center for an appointment for his or her patient, or patients may call the center directly.
