William G. Myers, M.D.

William G. Myers, M.D. is devoted to excellence in performing ophthalmologic surgery.

He received his M.D. degree from Dartmouth Medical School and completed his residency in ophthalmology at Northwestern University Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Board-certified in ophthalmology, Dr. Myers is a member of the faculty of Northwestern University Medical School.

One of the Doctors Who Make History
Dr. Myers has 20 years of experience with complex intraocular and refractive surgery. He was one of the first doctors in the Chicago area to switch to outpatient cataract surgery in the early 1980’s. He also was one of the first ophthalmologists in the Chicago area to utilize topical eyedrop anesthesia for most ocular procedures beginning in 1994. Dr. Myers first began performing refractive surgery in the early 1980’s. He began performing laser vision correction in 1996 shortly after the FDA’s approval of the excimer laser.

Dr. Myers is an outdoors enthusiast. With the advent of laser vision correction, Dr. Myers can offer his patients the wonder of the enjoying the outdoors without dependence on glasses or contacts. Dr. Myers feels that laser vision correction is one of the best things about being an ophthalmologist.

Philosophy of Care
“I believe in working closely with patients to help them achieve the results they desire. Innovations in the operating room have given us some superb new tools to use in helping patients. But it is the human relationship, the communication between doctor and patient, that remains most important.”
