Job Shadowing is an educational opportunity that allows students to observe nursing and selected allied health departments at Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Children’s Hospital - Oak lawn. It is formally coordinated with local high schools twice annually for students 15 years and older. Applications with information including health requirements are sent to the participating guidance departments for distribution. The program is limited to a predetermined number of applicants.
This one-day formally coordinated opportunity is also available over the summer for college students. It is scheduled one morning for approximately three hours and based on department availability. In order to be considered, all applicants must submit a completed application with appropriate health requirements, liability waiver, confidentiality, and other forms as deemed necessary. Shadowing is limited to a predetermined number of applicants for the college summer session. To request information for the scheduled college date and application you may email your request to Linda.Curran@advocatehealth.com.
Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Children’s Hospital are unable to support observational requests as a means to fill requirements for program or school entry. In addition, Physician and Physician Assistant shadowing isn’t available at this time. Students looking for healthcare institutions to fulfill those requirements should contact their school for a list of participating institutions.
