You want the best medical care for your children, and that's especially important when your child is ill or has a chronic condition. At Advocate Health Care, we continually work to find new and better ways to improve children's health and treat childhood illnesses. Much of this work is accomplished through the Advocate Center for Pediatric Research, a central office that provides research support to both Advocate Children's Hospitals.

Advocate's respected physicians and other clinicians, many renowned in their specialty, are actively involved in studies examining new medications and other treatments for children at both Advocate Hope Children's Hospital and Advocate Lutheran General Children's Hospital. Pediatric clinical trials are underway in many areas, including oncology, neurology, cardiology, neonatalogy, and general pediatrics. These trials, combined with the latest technology and expertise, allow us to provide children with access to cutting edge treatments and medications, alternatives to standard therapies, and additional choices for care.

Parents often wonder whether their child should be involved in a clinical trial. In clinical trials offered by the Advocate Center for Pediatric Research, patients receive investigational treatments and medical care under close supervision of one of Advocate's pediatric specialty physicians, aw well as research professionals. The child's health is carefully monitored throughout the investigation. Industry-sponsored trials have been developed by pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and are reviewed by the federal Food and Drug Administration and Advocate's own Institutional Review Board.
