Vice Chair and Program Director's Statement

Dr. Jill Patton, D.O.

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Internal Medicine Residency is dedicated to the individual residents’ success in internal medicine. We are the only internal medicine residency in Illinois that is accredited by ACGME and AOA, offering dual credit to our residents. Our vision is to train residents in formal medical knowledge, problem solving skills, and compassionate patient care. We are uniquely positioned, as part of the largest Accountable Care Organization in Illinois, to train residents in population management. We invite residents input in quality improvement design and patient safety measures. We are a level 1 trauma center serving a diverse patient population. We have accredited fellowships in Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Hematology/Oncology.

As a proud graduate of Lutheran General Hospital Internal Medicine residency program, I was well prepared to be a primary care provider and an educator of internal medicine. Our graduates are in successful primary care, hospitalist and subspecialty practices, many of whom remain in the Chicago area as well as across the country.

We have a culture of interdisciplinary team care that our physicians, residents and institution are committed to having the patient at the center of. Our nurses are AANC Magnet recognized. This Magnet designation is the ultimate credential for high quality nursing. Our interdisciplinary focus trains residents to focus on high quality safe patient care that will lead them to a successful career. I hope that we fit into your post graduate training plans. Please contact me if you have further questions or require additional information about our unique program.
