Our qualified, compassionate specialists concentrate on your child's strengths and capabilities, rather than disability or illness. We emphasize parent and caregiver involvement, Our therapist coordinate therapy with the child's medical and educational community. We facilitate open communication between caregivers, the patient and their families, a key element in assuring optimal outcomes. We consistently communicate with medical and education professionals involved in the child's care.

Advocate Lutheran General Children's Hospital's pediatric specialists offer a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services, for hospitalized children and those who visit on an outpatient basis, including:
Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Center
The Pediatric Therapy Center, located in the Yacktman Children's Pavilion, provides a broad range of outpatient services.
- Cheerful therapy gyms
- Private treatment rooms with suspended equipment
- Computer workstations (therapeutic use of computers)
- Gait training equipment
- Special splint/cast room
- Audiology soundroom
- Observation capabilities
- Accessible therapy bathroom
Specially Trained Staff
Our staff of more than 20 licensed clinicians have extensive pediatric training and experience. Staff members participate in ongoing professional education and specialty credentialing. Our staff has expertise in state-of-the-art pediatric diagnostic assessments and therapeutic interventions.
All of the staff have earned credentials as early intervention providers. We offer additional expertise in:
- Neuro Developmental Training (NDT)
- Pediatric videoswallow studies
- Feeding disorders
- Hearing aid dispensing
- Sensory integration treatment
- Upper and lower extremity splinting and casting
- TES (therapeutic electrical stimulation)
- Wheelchair and orthotic evaluations

Individualized Care
Whether your child needs a single assessment or ongoing therapy, our pediatric therapists develop a customized care plan to ensure that your child receives the best possible rehabilitative care. A multidisciplinary team of specialists works together in setting goals, reviewing progress and planning for your child's discharge, when the child is hospitalized. We offer traditional one-on-one therapy, as well as two discipline co-treatments and group therapy. We strive to help families identify additional services and resources available to them within the health system and in their community.
Inpatient Services
Inpatient rehabilitation services are provided to children with special needs throughout the hospital, including those in the:
- Mother baby unit
- Newborn and pediatric intensive care units
- Pediatric and adolescent units
- Pediatric psychiatry unit
Inpatient rehabilitation services focus on early identification and intervention and can be appropriate for premature newborns, at-risk infants and children hospitalized for acute illnesses, brain trauma and orthopedic surgeries. Inpatient rehabilitative care is fully integrated with the comprehensive outpatient services available through the Yacktman Children's Pavilion-a child-friendly outpatient facility located adjacent to Lutheran General Children's Hospital.

Referrals are accepted from physicians, parents/guardians, education programs, case managers and other rehabilitation professionals.
Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
