Brain tumors are currently the leading cause of death among children with cancer. Only 60% of these children will survive into adulthood. At the Midwest Children's Brain Tumor Center at Lutheran General Hospitals, that is not an acceptable statistic.
The Midwest Children's Brain Tumor Center has assembled a team of experts to bring a multidisciplinary family oriented approach to pediatric brain tumors. This philosophy has earned them both national and local recognition:
- US News & World Report rated Lutheran General among the top 50 hospitals in the country in 11 specialties including cancer care.
- Chicago Magazine's January 2000 issue recognized the Center as one of the best pediatric programs in the city.
- Center Director Dr. John Ruge was recognized by his peers in the Guide To Top Doctors as one of the top neurosurgeons in the Chicago area.
