Comprehensive, Continuous Care
We offer comprehensive, continuous care at each stage of a high-risk pregnancy—from pre-natal care and delivery through post-natal care of high-risk infants. That means mother and baby can be monitored and cared for every step of the way. Many families take great comfort in knowing that if there is a need for specialized medical treatment at birth, baby and mother will be in the same hospital.
A Full Spectrum of Pediatric Subspecialties
Our ability to treat babies with complex medical conditions makes us a major referral center for critically ill infants who are born in other hospitals and transported here under the care of our specially trained transport team. We also follow the progress and development of our NICU patients through our Neonatal Development Follow-Up Program and our NICU School Age Clinic. Both programs are designed to assist in monitoring the growth and development of NICU graduates.
Pediatric Rehabilitation and Audiology Services
Children with special needs, including premature newborns and infants hospitalized for illnesses, injuries, or other medical conditions benefit from the comprehensive pediatric rehabilitation services available through Advocate Lutheran General Children's Hospital. Highly trained pediatric therapy specialists focus on early identification and intervention to improve the quality of life for children and their families. Services include increasing parent-child interaction, decreasing the impact of prematurity and hospitalization on the newborn, a hearing screening program for at-risk infants and more.
Children’s Health Resource Center
Our Children’s Health Resource Center is a comprehensive resource center that provides parents and family with the most current information on an extensive array of health care topics and resources. The Center also offers a variety of education and parenting classes, health education lecture series and numerous support groups. Contact (847) 723-9484 for more information.
Social Worker
A NICU social worker is available to provide education and counseling services for you and your family. The social worker can also put you in contact with a wide range of community resources. Additionally, after your baby is discharged, a public health nurse will be in contact with you, as a routine service required by the state of Illinois.
