The pediatric speech-language pathologist provides evaluation and treatment to children and adolescents who are demonstrating speech, language, and/or feeding disorders due to a developmental delay, motor delay, or injury.

Our speech-language pathologists address a wide variety of disorders, including:

  • Stuttering
  • Oral motor
  • Phonological disorders
  • Articulation disorders
  • Apraxia
  • Expressive and receptive language disorders
  • Feeding and swallowing disorders
  • Sensory based disorders
  • Acquired neurological disorders
  • Processing disorders
  • Hearing impairments
  • Premature infant - adolescent bedside swallow studies
  • 0 month - adolescent videofluoroscopic swallow studies
  • Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
  • Nasoendoscopy
  • Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of the Swallow (FEES)
  • Videopalate studies
  • VitalStimTM Therapy
  • Respiratory/feeding therapy for motorically involved children
  • Infant massage
  • Co-treatment with Physical therapy or Occupational therapy
  • Co-treatment with music therapy
  • Pet therapy
  • Sequential oral sensory approach to feeding

The speech-language pathologists in the Pediatric Therapies department work with children and adolescents with a variety of speech, language, and feeding/swallowing needs. Our therapist's attend extensive ongoing education to improve their knowledge and expertise to provide state of the art therapy services. They are all licensed by the state of Illinois and credentialed to provide therapy through the Early Intervention System of Illinois. All of our pediatric speech therapists hold a certificate of clinical competence by the governing body of the American Speech and Hearing Association, nationally recognized professional organization.
