The Sixth Annual Advocate Injury Institute Symposium, Trauma 2009: Yes We Can, will be held Thursday, November 19, and Friday, November 20, at the Wyndham Lisle-Chicago Hotel, 3000 Warrenville Road, Lisle, IL.
Designed primarily for surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, emergency room, intensive care and trauma nurses, the symposium is a joint effort of Advocate Health Care's Christ, Illinois Masonic, and Condell medical centers, and Good Samaritan, Good Shepherd and Lutheran General hospitals.
The goal of the conference is to review current management strategies for various types of trauma across the continuum with a special emphasis on improving the outcomes of trauma patients. Topics include the future of trauma in Illinois, burn care, therapeutic hypothermia, pediatric/adolescent solid organ injury and open pelvis fractures. The two- day symposium will also include a nursing poster competition.

Thursday, November 19, 11:45 a.m. - Lunch with keynote address, From Legends to Heroes: A Gift of Hope Presentation, presented by Richard J. Fantus, M.D., FACS, Britta Cruz, Oliver Rosario and Mary Schlereth.
Friday, November 20, 6:30 a.m., Sunrise session*, Trauma Skills Lab.
Friday, November 20, 8:45 a.m. - Keynote, Intra-Abdominal Hypertension and Abdominal Compartment Syndrome, presented by Bryan Richard Collier, DO, CNSP, FACS.
