For more than fifty years, the Service League has served the community through volunteering and raising funds to enhance services provided to patients at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and Advocate Children's Hospital - Park Ridge.
The Service League raised funds and helped pave the way for Lutheran Deaconess Hospital, Chicago, to build a new medical facility in Park Ridge. The new facility, Lutheran General Hospital, was opened on Christmas Eve, 1959. Community involvement continues to make an impact on Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, its patients, and the surrounding communities.
The Service League continues to oversee fund raising efforts which support programs that benefit the needs of patients and furthers the mission, values and philosophy of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. It operates the hospital Flower Shop, brings popular vendors to the hospital for special sales, and stages the annual Tree of Lights fund raising event. Funds raised by these activities support programs that benefit patients, including: Music Therapy, Pet Therapy, Trauma Day, Heart Pillows for cardiac patients, High School Student Internships, and College Scholarships.
