Park Ridge/Oak Lawn, Ill. – In order to provide the best possible care for kids, two Chicago area children’s hospitals are coming together to create one hospital. These hospitals-Advocate Lutheran General Children’s Hospital, Park Ridge and Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital, Oak Lawn are now Advocate Children’s Hospital.
Advocate Children’s Hospital is not only one of Illinois’ largest pediatric enterprises but also one of the largest in the country offering more than 400 pediatricians and 230 pediatric subspecialists. The hospital will meet the medical needs of kids by providing comprehensive care from neonatology to cardiovascular services; comprehensive cancer care, including treatment of brain tumors and blood cancers like leukemia; trauma care; and a full range of rehabilitative and therapy services, such as audiology, speech therapy, physical and occupational therapy and the care of the autistic child.
With 400 licensed beds, including 111 Level III neonatal intensive care beds and 46 Level II special care nursery beds, the integrated hospital is considered among the top 10 network providers of pediatric services in the nation.
“We now have a broader voice and a broader skill set to make things happen,” said Mike Farrell, recently named president of Advocate Children’s Hospital. “This puts us in a position to adapt and grow with changes taking place in the health care world.”
With enhanced communication amongst physicians and other health care providers more consulting, conferring and collaborating will occur, providing kids with the best possible care; care that is highly effective, individualized, and uses evidence-based practices.
The mission of Advocate Children’s Hospital is to provide families more options and access to excellent service close to home, hospital leaders emphasize. Indeed, because of its strong foundation, Advocate Children’s Hospital is well poised to fulfill this mission of service to the community.
This foundation includes numerous recognitions including: one of the largest and most comprehensive pediatric electrophysiology services in the Midwest, one of 12 “world class” newborn intensive care units identified by the National Vermont Oxford “Your Ideal NICU” Project, a designated Pediatric Critical Care Facility by the Illinois Department of Public Health and a Member of the National Association of Children’s Hospital and Related Institutions (NACHRI) an organization of hospitals committed to excellence in providing health care to children.
The hospital is rolling out its new brand and structure, beginning this week. More information about Advocate Children’s Hospital can be found at www.AdvocateChildrensHospital.com or call 855.312.KIDS. Check out the video at http://bit.ly/TGU5zh.
