Dancing Brings Out Health Care Stars at Lutheran General Hospital Gala
A record 680 guests attended the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Homecoming/Coming Home Gala, October 6 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. The gala raised over $386,000 net for three beneficiaries; the Dr. Harold Shafter Research and Education Endowment; Pediatric Research and Education; and the Center for Simulation, Research and Innovation.
Funds raised help sustain clinical education and clinical research programs that support Lutheran General Hospital’s role as the leading academic hospital in the north and northwest Chicago suburbs.
In addition, the Clinical Medical Education program at Lutheran General Hospital honored Lee Sacks, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Advocate Health Care with its first-ever Distinguished Alumni Award. The late Harold Shafter, MD was also honored for being a leader in medical education efforts at Lutheran General Hospital. His wife, Shirlee accepted the award on his behalf.
"The response and support for this year's gala has been overwhelmingly positive," said Brian Liedlich vice president of development at Lutheran General Hospital. "These funds will allow the hospital to enhance clinical education opportunities and medical research that improves the health of the communities we serve.”
The event included a dance competition, which featured four local professional dancers who partnered with a leader from Lutheran General Hospital. The winner, Lutheran General Hospital President Anthony Armada, FACHE was crowned Homecoming King.
