Your Best Choice for Specialized Care

For the majority of people, wound healing is an ordinary, everyday process. But for an estimated five million Americans, it becomes a serious medical issue requiring specialized care and extensive treatment. Some wounds, like wounds due to diabetes or poor circulation, bed sores or burns, can take months or even longer to heal, or don't heal at all.

Wounds that haven't improved in four weeks, or haven't completed healing in eight weeks are considered chronic, non-healing wounds. It can be extremely difficult or even impossible to effectively treat chronic wounds on your own or in a regular physician's office.

Advocate Lutheran General's Wound Care Center provides up-to-date, comprehensive wound care services for both inpatients and outpatients. Care is provided by our staff of physical therapists under the direction of a medical director. Many of our therapists are also Certified Wound Specialists© through the American Academy of Wound Management.

The Wound Program experts at Lutheran General Hospital are dedicated to helping chronic wounds heal and relieving the pain they cause.  Since troublesome wounds are often associated with other underlying medical conditions, we specifically integrate wound care with ongoing health care.

Insurance

Our staff is ready to help get you back to a lifestyle of living wound-free. Most insurance is accepted and many treatments are covered by private insurances as well as Medicare. Please check with your insurer about coverage.
