Nancy Cipparrone, Director

Since 2012, Nancy E. Cipparrone, MA has held the title of Director, Russell Institute for Research & Innovation at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.  She attained a master’s degree in clinical psychology with a focus in evaluation, measurement, and statistics; and is a licensed professional counselor. For the past 15 years, Ms. Cipparrone has provided research consultation and education to attending, resident and fellow physicians and nurses in multiple clinical areas. She has over 10 years of applied experience in a wide-range of clinical research activities, including research design and methodology, database design, data collection and management, and data analysis.  She has completed the clinical trials management certification program at the University of Chicago. Ms. Cipparrone has several publications in diverse areas and has lectured on those topics.

Teresa Colon has worked in healthcare and several hospitals throughout the Chicago land and Suburbs for over 15 years in the administrative support capacity. Her first healthcare job began at Augustana Hospital. Following Augustana, she worked with the legal/government environment for five years. She has worked in both environments, but her passion will always be with healthcare. The notion of helping to improve the quality of someone’s life, although indirectly, gives her great honor and joy.

Suela earned a BS in Psychology and a MS in Psychology and Counseling from the University of Sheffield, UK. Suela has been with Advocate Health Care since early 2010 and has over six years of experience in a wide-range of research activities, including protocol development, project design and methodology, database design, data collection and management strategies, data analysis as well as manuscript and poster development. Suela has several presentations and publications.

Ina Zamfirova earned a BA in Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has worked at Lutheran General Hospital as a research assistant for the REACH® program under Dr. Parag Patel in the Department of Cardiology.  In April 2011, while still working on REACH®, Ina became a volunteer specifically involved with the Research Department at ALGH.  Following her initiation in research, she became an independent contractor supporting system level projects such as the Home Hospitalization Program and the Patient Centered Medical Home.  Ina has over two years of experience in research activities, including project design and methodology, data collection and management, as well as manuscript development and poster presentations.

Maysoon earned a BS in Biological Sciences from DePaul University, Chicago, IL. Maysoon has been with Advocate Health Care since November 2001.  In 2007, she began an internship with the National Center for Limb Preservation.  In 2008, she joined the Division of Hematology and Oncology as a Clinical Research Associate.  She has over 6 years of research experience in the areas of hematology and oncology as well as wound care and limb preservation.  She has coordinated several Pharmaceutical and National Cancer Institute sponsored trials and developed poster presentations for national conferences.  She has a wide range of research experience including data management and collection, protocol review, data analysis, CRF design, and IRB submissions.

Geraldine Asis, BSN, Coordinator

Geraldine earned a BS in Nursing from North Park University, Chicago, Illinois.  Geraldine has been with Advocate Health Care since 2002 and has over five years experience in oncology research.  Geraldine has coordinated pharmaceutical as well as cooperative group clinical trials sponsored by the National Cancer Institute.  Geraldine works in various aspects of research including:  designing and/or reviewing study documents and recruiting materials;  maintaining compliance with study protocol activities  (e.g. informed consent process, adverse event reporting, specimen and data collection, drug accountability and source data verification); and also submission of new protocol applications to the local review board. Geraldine received her ACRP clinical research coordinator certification in September of 2013.

Gabriella earned a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation from Northeastern Illinois University. She began her career in Cardiac Rehabilitation as an Exercise Physiologist where she worked for over 6 years.  Gabriella has been a research coordinator with Advocate for over 12 years.  Throughout her career at Advocate she has been the lead coordinator for numerous cardiology clinical trials. Gabriella received her ACRP clinical research coordinator certification in March of 2012.  Her research experience includes data collection with various types of electronic data capture systems, regulatory management, patient recruitment, enrollment, strict protocol adherence and involvement in the informed consent process. Her experience is primarily on pharmaceutical and device based clinical trials.


Gina Littlejohn, BSN, Coordinator

Gina earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Northern Illinois University.  She has over 25 years nursing experience in Adult medical /surgical and cardiology, and has been at Advocate Lutheran General for over 20 years.  Gina has experience with database creation and maintenance, reviewing study and protocol documents, preparation of regulatory documents (e.g. IRB applications, amendments, deviation forms etc.). Her nursing background and critical thinking provides a link to the bedside staff that pursues research opportunities.  Gina has experience in protocol participation from obtaining informed consent, patient assessment and treatment to data collection.

Stacey Pahlke, Coordinator

Stacey earned her Bachelor’s of Science focusing in Nuclear Medicine from Roosevelt University with clinical correlation at Northwest Memorial Hospital and University of Chicago Hospital.  Stacey has been with Advocate Medical Group since 2008.  She started out as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and in 2011 became the Technical Director for the nuclear cardiology lab.  Stacey started working part time in clinical research in 2010.  Stacey has experience screening and recruiting potential research participants.  She works closely with the physicians involved in each study to complete all required clinic and telephone visits required for each protocol and to maintain the safety of the patients.  Stacey is also involved in the preparation of all regulatory documents and IRB submissions.

Yelizaveta Yanovskaya, Coordinator

Yelizaveta earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Moscow Medical Academy, one of the top medical schools in Russia. Ever since she was a medical student, she participated in the Medical Research Association and was a representative of the National Medical Research Congress. She started her work in clinical research in the United Stated at Rush University Medical Center as a Clinical Research Coordinator in the Department of Hematology/Oncology. She joined Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in early 2007 and since then she has covered Prevention and multiple Treatment Trials as well as worked with different Pharmaceutical and Cooperative Groups. Yelizaveta received her ACRP clinical research coordinator certification in March of 2014.
