Cancer Care Center 1700 Luther Lane Why are Clinical Trials Important?
|
Why are Clinical Trials Important? Clinical trials provide important information about the effectiveness of new cancer treatments and prevention. Patients who participate in clinical trials are among the first to receive new treatments. There are no guarantees, but the doctors who conduct clinical trials believe that the new treatment will be as good or better than the current standard therapy. Clinical trials help develop improved treatments and in those cases, patients enrolled in the clinical trial will be the first to benefit from these improvements. The information obtained from clinical trials advances our progress in the fight against cancer. Without clinical trials, and without the assistance of patients willing to enroll onto these trials, our treatments for cancer would never improve. |
