Your Breast Health Educator

Although there are some women who are at higher risk, the fact is that all women are at risk for breast cancer. Although breast cancers cannot be prevented at the present time, early detection of problems provides the greatest possibility of successful treatment.

Because we understand that a breast concern can be a time of uncertainty and anxiety, at Lutheran General Hospital’s Caldwell Breast Center our certified breast health educators are available to assist patients through the many screening, diagnostic, surgical and medical treatments options available to them.

Our specially trained educators work with the surgeons to provide a complete diagnostic evaluation of the patient and pre- and post-biopsy and surgical procedure education to patients as well.

In addition to clinical information, our educators also provide support for patients’ emotional and mental well-being. They’ll check on you with cheerful visits in the hospital and phone calls at home. Additionally, our nurses are also able to assist in finding support groups, make recommendations to helpful educational resources, and provide referrals to social workers, psychologists, support and medical staff.

At Lutheran General, the breast health educators also play a vital role in consumer education and support. They serve on committees to support Cancer Survivors Day, community outreach programs and education.
