Focus On Sleep Apnea Sleep apnea affects approximately 5 percent of the population in the United States. Common symptoms include disruptive snoring and daytime sleepiness. Proper diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea is critical because it is a risk factor for stroke and cardiac disease.
Our program features a multidisciplinary approach to treating sleep apnea, specializing in complex pulmonary and neuromuscular breathing disorders. Lutheran General Hospital’s Metabolic Center offers weight management and bariatric surgery options to address this key aspect of the sleep apnea syndrome.
