Patients with a problem detected by a mammogram or ultrasound, or who have other breast problems may require an invasive procedure for a complete evaluation. Some of these problems include calcifications, a breast mass, discharge or a nipple lesion.
If a patient does require a biopsy, he or she will be evaluated by a surgeon at the Caldwell Breast Center prior to the biopsy procedure. The patient will also meet with one of the nurses at the center who will explain the procedure, assist with scheduling, and follow up with the patient to assure he/she has an advocate and resource during this very stressful time.
