Prior to consultation with the Russell Research Institute, please have the following done, in review, or in progress:
- Complete a Research Work Request Form
In an effort to track the Russell Institute’s workload, type of work, and client demographics we are requesting that clients complete and submit a "Research Work Request Form”. Please click here to complete and submit the form for your research.
Once we receive a “Research Work Request Form” one of the Institute’s coordinators will be in contact with you to set up a consultation.
- Steps to getting started
- Step 1: Do a literature search
The literature search will help you identify gaps in the literature and formulate your research questions / hypotheses and specific aims.
Apart from searching different search engines, you can also use the internal ALGH Library Network and “request a literature search” from the ALGH library. Please note that this is an internal link. You must be on Advocate Online or have portal entry to be able to view it.
- Step 2: Prepare your Research Protocol
Institutional Review Board (IRB) Protocol (for prospectively enrolling studies):
If you are prospectively enrolling patients, both the Russell Research Institute and the IRB require that you complete the IRB protocol and all other IRB documents. At this link, under Investigator Templates, you will find the IRB Protocol (HRP-503).
Research Project Outline (for retrospective chart review, survey or quality/process improvement studies):
If you are performing a retrospective chart review, survey or a quality/process improvement study, the Russell Research Institute requires that you complete the research project outline, which can serve as your IRB summary and your final manuscript. At this link, under Tools, you will find the Research Project Outline template.
- Step 3: Submit articles and Research Protocol
If available, copies of 2-3 relevant articles should be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to initial consultation.
If you have already developed / drafted your Research Protocol, please submit a copy to email@example.com prior to initial consultation.
