Vibhash Kumar

Medical school: J.N. Medical College, India

  • What I like about Advocate Children's Hospital - Oak Lawn: What I like most in our program is the friendliest working environment, widest possible exposure to cardiac pathologies and the excellent  learning environment.
  • Personal Information:  I authored a book chapter on the role of ICD in prevention of ventricular arrhythmia and presented a poster on a patient of Williams syndrome, all during residency. I received best research award during his residency. I like travelling, watching movies and spending time with my family in my free time.
  • Goals/accomplishments: I am interested in interventional pediatric cardiology.

Second-Year Fellows

Waseem Cossor
Residency: Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital - Oak Lawn
Medical School: Saint Louis University School of Medicine
Hometown: Cleveland, Saint Louis, Chicago. Yes, I claim all three.

  • What I Like about Advocate Children's Hospital - Oak Lawn: The range of pathology we see here is incredible. Rarely does a day go by where I do not see something I have never seen before.
  • Personal Information: I am an all-around Midwesterner: I was born in Cleveland; attended high school in Saint Louis; College in Rolla, Missouri; back to Saint Louis for medical school; and on to Chicago for residency and fellowship. In my spare time (yes, we do get a little spare time) I enjoy playing the drums. In college I was in a punk band. In residency I cobbled together a motley crew of residents, a nurse practitioner, a child life music therapist, and a pediatrics program director to form a Beatles cover band, which performed at the hospital holiday party.
  • Goals/Accomplishments: I plan on pursuing a fourth-year fellowship in advanced imaging (ECHO, CT, MRI). I am currently working on several research projects involving 3D echocardiography.

Lalitha Gopineti
Residency: University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago
Medical school: Sri Venkateswara medical college, Tirupathi, India

  • What I like about Advocate Children's Hospital - Oak Lawn: The most important thing I like here is the high quality of care provided to our patients. We see a wide variety of congenital and acquired cardiac conditions. There are very well-known and experienced faculty in each subspecialty and great cardiac surgeons. Once I graduate from here, I am very confident that I will be able to provide similar high-quality care to my patients.
  • Personal Information: I am very grateful to my family for giving me wonderful support throughout my journey so far. I love spending time with friends. I enjoy cooking, listening to music and watching movies. I like watching cricket and tennis.
  • Goals/accomplishments: I would like to go into general cardiology practice after fellowship and might consider an extra fourth-year training later on.

Nida Yousef

  • What I Like about Advocate Children's Hospital - Oak Lawn: I like how fellows are close to each other. Our cardiology nurses and nurse practitioners are very helpful and pleasant. I like how the whole department gets close to each other and celebrates special occasions and birthdays. This makes us feel like family!
  • Personal Information: I like to spend my free time with my son and husband. I have watched hundreds of episodes of Sesame Street with my son. We love to spend the weekends walking in downtown Chicago and visiting the downtown museums. I also enjoy preparing and tasting food.
  • Goals/Accomplishments: I would love to pursue further training in cardiac imaging and fetal echo. I wish to find a job that provides a perfect balance between family and work!

Third-Year Fellow

Saad Siddiqui
Residency: Michigan State University, Kalamazoo Campus
Medical School: Gandhi Medical College, India
Hometown: Cary, NC

  • What I like about Advocate Children's Hospital - Oak Lawn: Spicy chicken wings! They are truly the best.
  • Personal Information: I drive a red car, I need new shoes, I know someone who can sleep with his eyes open. I have been fortunate to be surrounded by awesome individuals who make me look forward to everyday of my life. My world has changed considerably in the last three years with the addition of two little boys to our family. This has changed my perspective as a physician taking care of children. I have grown to respect all those parents whose children are battling chronic ailments. I realize the strength and fortitude that it takes to wake up in the morning knowing that your child is sick and then have a smile on your face for the rest of the day to keep your kid happy.
  • Goals/Accomplishments: I aspire to become the best pediatric cardiologist I can possibly be, and at the same time maintain the humility and integrity that I see in some of my mentors.
