Event hits high note for hospital program
Numerous studies show that music helps to ease patients’ pain and anxiety, lower blood pressure and improve coping ability. Advocate Sherman Hospital, the latest addition to the Advocate family, has a thriving Musicians Care program that is designed to provide a calm and relaxing environment and contribute to the healing process for both patients and families. Funded by charitable donations, the program is part of the hospital’s commitment to patient and family-centered care. More than 250 guests generously supported Musicians Care through their attendance at the Music by the Water 2013 event in September. Attendees enjoyed an afternoon of food, beverages and live music by Elgin Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet, Smokin Gunz and Sherman physicians around the hospital’s 15-acre geothermal lake. The $35,000 raised will cover program costs for 11 months.
