Stephanie Buckley, MD
Undergrad: University of Maryland, Baltimore County
Medical School: Georgetown University

Why Masonic: I chose Masonic because I wanted a program that would provide many opportunities to work with the adolescent population. I desired a program with a large community presence, but also a strong academic component as well. Finally, I simply had a great time during my interview - the staff and residents I met were great, the city is amazing, and I just felt at home here!

Professional interests: Adolescent medicine, women's health
Personal Interests: In my free time, I am obsessed with my new son. Additionally, I enjoy cooking (& eating), exploring Chicago with my family and exercising.

Victoria  Chiou, MD
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Undergrad: University of Chicago
Medical School: Rush Medical College

Why Masonic: The strong sense of community and support within the program sold me on Masonic. I needed a program where I could learn how to doctor without the anxiety of disdain or punishment if I made a mistake. The faculty are patient focused, and encourage us to take into consideration the patient's whole life picture. Most importantly, the residents are individuals I am excited to learn from and spend time with, both in the hospital and life at large!
Professional interests: Urban underserved medicine, obstetrics, adolescent medicine, and quality improvement
Personal Interests: I love finding new recipes, exploring Chicago's restaurants, spending time with friends, reading, & enjoying Chicago’s festivals galore & more!

Mari-Elena Davis, DO
Hometown: Portland, Maine
Undergrad: Haverford College
Medical School: University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine

Professional Interests: Primary care, manipulation, acute care
Personal Interests: I am deeply attached to the ocean and the mountains, having roots out west in Colorado and back east in Maine. I am working to make Chicago my home by taking in the food, drink, culture and lakefront offerings. I like being outdoors, being active, cooking, eating, running and spending time with family and friends. I feel like I couldn't have picked a better place to continue all my interests and explore new ones!

Sara Dumich, MD
Hometown: Champaign, IL
Undergrad: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Medical School: Southern Illinois University School of Medicine

Why Masonic: From the moment I began my interview day at Masonic, I knew this was the program that I wanted to be a part of. The faculty and staff were very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. The residents seemed excited and proud to be a part of this program and commented about how supportive the environment is. Everyone seemed like one big happy family and I felt like it was a perfect fit for me. Also, Masonic has an amazing reputation and I felt that this program would help prepare me to be a competent, well rounded physician and person.
Professional Interests: Sports medicine, preventative medicine, and procedures
Personal Interests: I love hanging out with friends and family, working out, trying new and exciting restaurants with my husband, exploring the city of Chicago, and cheering on University of Illinois sports teams - GO ILLINI!

James Gendernalik, DO

Why Masonic: I chose this program because of its very strong reputation of producing excellent family physicians, the high quality people affiliated with the program, and the connection I felt when I  interviewed. I am very fortunate to train at this program because it offers a diverse educational experience which I am sure will pay huge dividends in the future.
Professional Interests: Sports medicine

Emily King Jiang, MD
Hometown: Overland Park, KS
Undergrad: St Mary’s College of California
Medical School: St Louis University School of Medicine

Why Masonic: I remember leaving my interview day excited about all the things the program had to offer, including working with midwives, its behavioral health curriculum and working alongside such interesting, easy-going people who make you feel right at home. Masonic was everything I wanted and it just felt right.
Professional Interests: Women’s health, behavioral medicine, geriatrics
Personal Interests: I enjoy patio gardening, cooking ethnic cuisine, estate sale-ing/bargain hunting on Craigslist, dancing at dive bars to indie electronic music, trying all the wonderful restaurants Chicago has to offer, Logan Square's Sunday farmers market, camping at music festivals, and leisurely bike rides around the city on my beautiful dutchie bike.

Caroline Kohlhapp, DO

Why Masonic: Even before I visited the residency program, I knew it would be one of my top choices based on their strong reputation and curriculum. I wanted a program that was well balanced and not lacking in any particular field. I have a particular interest in adolescent medicine and Masonic offers the unique opportunity to practice at high school based clinics. When I met the faculty and residents on my interview day, I knew I was home! It was obvious that everyone had an amazing work ethic and truly enjoyed each other’s company.
Professional Interests: Urgent care, procedures, women’s health
